Blue Flamingo was born from the bold idea that real change in communities doesn’t happen through shelved plans—it happens through action, creativity, and connection.
It’s the story of how two women, twenty years apart, came together to build something that makes a difference.
Valerie Reddemann (just “Val,” unless you’re one of those AI sales reps who call her “Val” before they’ve earned it) had spent nearly 30 years in the behavior change business. This is quite remarkable considering she’s only 29. After years of developing creative strategies, eventually watered down by the agencies that implemented them, Val wanted more. She wanted to drive the process of bringing strategy to life.
Enter Lindsay Steinberg—a driven strategist and operational whiz with boundless energy and a knack for shaking things up. The two met at a local event where Val was speaking. After sliding into Val’s LinkedIn DMs, what began as a conversation turned into a partnership—and a vision: to create an agency that did things not just differently, but boldly. Fearlessly. Where-no-agency-has-gone-before boldly.
Then came the call.
The Town of Paradise, still reeling from the devastation of the 2018 Camp Fire, reached out to Val for help rebuilding communication and trust with residents. It was an enormous challenge—exactly the kind of bold opportunity Val and Lindsay had been waiting for.
Since then, Blue Flamingo has soared into becoming the only agency in California (and likely the U.S.) with deep, hands-on experience helping communities rebuild after wildfire. That experience has grown into pre-disaster work—outreach, education, and engagement that helps agencies and their partners communicate clearly and move people to action before crisis hits.
Today, we work with public agencies, special districts, prime contractors, and their partners to help them craft clear, actionable messages and engagement strategies that spark behavior change and build trust.
At Blue Flamingo, our internal motto says it all:
“We do hard things.”
We don’t shy away from challenges: we run toward them.
We’re proud of our award-winning work, our fearless team, and the clients who trust us to think big, act boldly, and deliver results that matter. Most of all, we’re proud to show up every day—with heart, creativity, and humor—to help our clients show up for their communities.
